GWM Ora looks to Arnold Clark to help get buyers into its EVs

AM100 giant Arnold Clark has joined the franchised network for Chinese brand GWM Ora.

Arnold Clark GWM Ora dealerships have opened in Scotland at Glasgow and Stirling to retail the brand’s electric cars to local businesses and private buyers.

Distributed here by IM Group, GWM Ora arrived in the UK in November 2022 and launched with a franchised network including AM100 dealer groups Lookers, Peter Vardy, Wessex Garages, Chorley Group and City West Country.

UK sales of its launch model, initially badged Funky Cat but since rebadged as 03, had reached 1,000 units by the start of 2024.

The brand’s next model, Ora 07, will debut the GT variant at Goodwood Festival Of Speed on July 11.

This addition of Arnold Clark takes the GWM Ora UK retail network up to 40 locations, including sales and aftersales locations and test drive centres.

Toby Marshall, managing director of GWM Ora UK said: “Expanding our retail network is something we’re dedicated to delivering and we are well on track for our targets this year.

The appointment of a known household brand like Arnold Clark, is testament to the reputation GWM Ora is building across the UK.”

Gavin McKenzie, Arnold Clark’s director for the GWM Ora brand, said the group looks forward to a long and fruitful partnership.

“Our new branches are now up and running in Glasgow and Stirling and our employees are thrilled to welcome our customers through the doors and share the fantastic range of GWM Ora models we have available, as well as previewing the exciting new models which are coming later in the year.”
