The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has launched the search for a new chief executive to lead the organisation.
The new CEO will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the institute and will report directly to the IMI chair, representing the board of directors.
The role offers a salary of £150,000, with the opportunity to earn up to £175,000 based on meeting specific targets.
The position provides a flexible working arrangement, with the expectation of spending three days per week at the Hertford office base and the option to work remotely for two days.
Applications are open until 20 September and the interview process will be held in two stages. The first round of virtual interviews will take place between 10-11 October with final face-to-face interviews scheduled for 24 October at the IMI headquarters in Fanshaws in Hertforshire.
The selected candidate is expected to take up the position in the first quarter of 2025.
The IMI said the new CEO will be tasked with transforming and advancing the IMI to meet the needs of the motor industry and requires a forward-thinking leader who can inspire and lead a diverse group of staff, members, volunteers, and partner organisations.
The new leader will oversee the development and execution of the IMI’s strategy, budget, and business plan with a focus on developing the automotive retail sector’s skills and competencies.
Sarah Sillars, the IMI vice president who is leading the recruitment bid, said: “This is a pivotal time in our industry, with a rapidly changing landscape, a new political environment and a great chance to focus on young people entering our industry.”
The IMI last month unveiled a newly restructured executive team in a bid to meet the future challenges and opportunities within the sector.
Steve Nash, who has been with the IMI for over 22 years and served as CEO since 2013, will step down once a successor is found.
