Jaecoo confirms premium SUV pricing starts under £30k ahead of UK launch

Jaecoo will enter the UK new car market with its 7 premium SUV with prices starting from £29,435.

Order books are now open for the entry model 1.6-litre petrol version, the 4WD petrol is priced from £32,850, while a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version is available from £35,065.

Jaecoo is the premium brand from Chinese carmaker Chery Group, which has already launched in the UK with its Omoda brand, which sits alongside Jaecoo at franchised dealership locations across the UK.

Jaecoo is targetted with tackling more luxury rivals like Audi with a premium package loaded with standard equipment at an ultra competitive price point.

The brand name originates from a slight portmanteau of the German word for hunter (jäger) and cool, although it’s pronounced Jay-Coo.

The PHEV version of the Jaecoo 7 features an 18.3 kW battery that provides an all-electric range of 56 miles. With a 60-litre fuel tank, this gives the new SUV a potential range of 745 miles and CO2 of 23g/km.

In addition to a 600 mm wading depth, the four-wheel drive version features seven driving modes, including Sand, Mud, Snow and Off-Road settings.

The cabin features a 14.8-inch high-resolution touchscreen alongside a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel and a head-up display (HUD). Multi-colour interior lighting options, wireless mobile phone charging, an eight-speaker Sony audio system and a panoramic roof are all included.

Advanced driver-assistance (ADAS) technologies include a 540-degree panoramic camera system and also comes with a seven-year/100,000 mile manufacturer’s warranty.

Jaecoo is partnered with Chery’s other brand Omoda as part of a dealer network that has already reached almost 70 locations across the UK.

Chery has ambitious plans for both brands in the UK and has already said it plans to outsell brands like Citroen, Mazda, Dacia and Seat here after just its second full year of sales.
