Carwow strengthens leadership team to drive global growth strategy

Carwow Group has appointed Ana Diaz Medio as vice president of product for the ‘Get Your Car’ division, responsible for transforming the product vision to enhance how customers research and purchase vehicles.

Filipe Aguilar joins as managing director for Portugal and will lead global operations for Sell My Car which targets trade buyers via daily online auctions.

Diaz Medio, who will be based in London and report to Philipp Sayler von Amende, chief commercial officer for Get Your Car, brings extensive experience from her previous role as senior director of product management, growth & strategy at Farfetch.

There, she led teams to innovate luxury shopping experiences. She also held leadership roles at Verizon Media and Yahoo.

“I’ve always been passionate about tech that simplifies people’s lives, and Carwow’s efforts to reinvent the way most of us buy or sell cars really clicked with me. I can’t wait to be part of this journey,” said Diaz Medio.

Aguilar, who will report to Sally Foote, chief commercial officer for Sell My Car, will focus on expanding post-auction services and enhancing seller and dealer satisfaction.

He joins from Farfetch, where he was vice president of operations, leading supply chain and logistics. Previously, he worked at McKinsey & Company as an engagement manager.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to Carwow’s growth and help shape the future of the automotive industry. I’ve been really impressed with the company’s culture and its passion for driving innovation,” said Aguilar.

The appointments come after a £41m investment earlier this year, led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from Accel, Balderton, Episode 1, and Vitruvian Partners.

Carwow Group saw revenues grow by 56% in H1 2024, with nearly £3bn worth of cars purchased through the platform in 2023.

Alice Flaye, chief business & operations officer at Carwow Group, added: “We’re investing in talent to help us deliver our ambitious growth plans globally. Ana and Filipe bring a wealth of expertise in their areas, and we’re excited to see how they help shape our future.”
