Peugeot reveals that Low Emission Zones, Clean Air Zones, and Zero Emission Zones across the UK have collectively generated over £1 billion in fees and fines since April 2019.
Following its recent expansion, London’s ULEZ has amassed more than £226 million in the past year alone, making it “the world’s largest clean air zone,” according to Transport for London.
The ULEZ, now covering all 32 London boroughs, has been responsible for £875 million of the total revenue generated by these zones since 2019.
London’s ULEZ remains the largest contributor to this revenue, followed by other zones like Glasgow, which recently began enforcing its Low Emission Zone. Currently, the UK has 13 Low Emission Zones with varying entry fees and penalties for non-compliant vehicles.
Eurig Druce, managing director of Peugeot UK, commenting on the findings, said: “As Low Emission Zones continue to expand across the UK, it is clear that the future of urban mobility lies in cleaner, more sustainable transportation.”
Druce added: “To mark one year since the ULEZ expansion, we have also enhanced offers on our electric vehicles – helping drivers avoid costly ULEZ charges while playing a vital role in reducing air pollution in our cities.”
Enhanced offers on its electric vehicles include up to £900 in additional savings for key workers until the end of September. All customers can also benefit from Peugeot’s Switch Grant on the new E-208, E-2008, E-Rifter and E-Traveller with 0% APR and savings of up to £7,000.
