President Biden Writes The Most Totally Normal Statement About Hunter's Conviction

On Tuesday, President Biden’s only living son Hunter Biden, was found guilty of 3 felony gun charges. Sad, but predictable, based on the wealth of evidence presented by prosecutors. The judge was a Trump appointee. The President released the following statement:

“As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today. So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery. As I also said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal. Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that.”

Wait, aren’t we supposed to call all trials “a disgrace” and judges “corrupt”? Aren’t we supposed to accuse all DOJ prosecutions of political figures “election interference? I am so SO CONFUSED!? How could President Biden not do that? Why did he let HIS OWN JUSTICE SYSTEM convict his son? This goes against everything that Donald Trump (and the right wing media) has been telling us!

But in all seriousness, it was a very sad case of addiction, family pain and bad decisions that come along with all of those things. The jury found that Hunter Biden lied about his drug use, was a drug user and illegally owned a gun for 11 days in October 2018. They deliberated for 3 hours.

Hunter Biden walked out of court somber, but seemingly not surprised. He kissed his wife, hugged his family and shook the hands of friends and supporters as he exited the courtroom.

Following the verdict, Hunter put out a statement saying he was “ore grateful today for the love and support I experienced this last week from Melissa, my family, my friends, and my community than I am disappointed by the outcome. Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time.”

In terms of sentencing, Hunter is a first time offender and the maximum penalty is 10 years. He will most likely face probation or, at most, a very short incarceration. Hunter is facing tax related charges later this year and a conviction would increase the risk of punishment for him if found guilty. It is unknown if his defense team is attempting to secure a plea deal in order to stave off a second trial.

Twitter had thoughts about the gun conviction:

I hope Hunter stays clean, for both his own health and for his family. Addiction is a disease, although that does not excuse any crimes committed while an addict. Had he been found not guilty, the right wing would have screamed it was a plot by President Biden. Now that was found guilty, they are going to bend themselves into pretzels trying to prove that THIS is the real plot by President Biden to get re-elected.

UPDATE: When Biden landed in Delaware, Hunter was there to meet him. And give him the biggest hug.
